Hume Lake Firefighter’s Retreat: April 6-8, 2018
This is FFC’s biggest event of the year (See the flyer and video on our home page). This year's speaker is Phil Scott from Northern Ireland. You will not only love his accent and quick wit, but will be inspired by his passion, and challenged by his message. As a reminder, Hume’s Retreat starts Friday evening, but you can extend the weekend by attending FFC’s International Event which starts Wednesday afternoon. Adding these two extra days (arriving Wednesday) is more relaxing and makes the weekend seem so much longer. You can register for either or both…we recommend both. Click on our Hume Lake link for more info and registration. Housing at this event will fill up, but get on the waiting list, as private housing always seem to come available.
Mission Possible-18 hosted by Fairfield FD: April 9-13, 2018
Mission Possible 2018 will take place in the Northern San Francisco Bay Area of California. The Fairfield Fire Department will be the primary fire service agency hosting firefighters for ride-alongs. The City of Fairfield is located midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. The mission will be in conjunction with the FFC International Event & Hume Lake’s Firefighter Retreat which starts at Hume Lake Christian Camp on April 4th and will end in Fairfield on April 13th. MP 18 is being hosted by the North Bay Firefighters For Christ Chapter. The chapter envisions this mission as an opportunity to encourage their members and to share the Love of Christ with those that don’t yet know Him. If you feel God’s leading to be part of this mission, contact Steve Vucurevich, Chapter Leader of the North Bay Firefighters For Christ, at his home phone 707-863-0360, Cell 707-290-7807 or email Steve at firstname.lastname@example.org
Nepal Training Trip: May 2-12, 2018
This is a last minute notification to form a training team for Nepal. We are pushed for time on this due to a narrow opportunity based upon changing weather conditions, namely, melting snow and ice. John went on a scouting trip late last year and established contact with the local mayor and visited some fire stations. There are eager for us to return and we will be teaching on Auto Extrication, Swift Water Rescue, and Wildland Operations. We anticipate about 75 students and are looking to send 10-15 instructors. Primary Instructors are already in place so no experience is necessary. If you are looking for an opportunity to be part of a team and learn what a training trip is all about, contact Joe Lindaman ASAP at email@example.com The airfare for this trip is currently about $1,000, and we anticipate we will spend about $400-$500 on food and accommodations.
Uganda 2018: October 19, 2018 through November 2, 2018
This will be FFC Northern Ireland’s third mission trip to Uganda. They have established a good relationship with Ty Cariad, a home and school for orphans, and have reached out to Uganda Fire Service personnel around this home. This year they plan to reach out to the Mbarara Region firefighters teaching Rescue Straps, First Aid, Swift Water, and possibly Auto Extrication. There is always work to be done around the home, and of course working with the children. Photos from previous trips can be seen at http://www.firefightersforchrist.co.uk/gallery This is open to firefighters and support staff. This is also a 'family friendly' trip so husbands, wives, and older children have the opportunity to go on mission together as a family. Total cost for those flying out of Northern Ireland is about 1200-1300 pounds (about $1600-$1800 US) Cost flying from other locations will vary. Contact Paddy Quinn at firstname.lastname@example.org He would like to hear from your by March 21, 2018.
