- I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

UPDATE #4
We made it...to the Dominican Republic!
The team arrived safely in the Dominican Republic after a brief layover to change planes and grab some much needed coffee in Miami. We were blessed with clear skies as we flew over the ocean, a reminder of God's majesty. The Pacific Ocean isn't quite that turquoise blue, at least not in Southern California. Our flight was filled with numerous other relief workers, including a group of 17 physicians and nurses with Florida Baptist Convention. It was a blessing to encourage and be encouraged by these fellow believers.
Upon arriving in Santo Domingo, we sailed through customs; all luggage was accounted for, an answer to prayer, as we had nearly 40 bags. Our bus driver was not immediately at the airport, which gave us plenty of time to pray, bond as a team, and make some valuable contacts with other people heading to Haiti. We've already been reminded that God is in control.
We are staying at the Hotel Santo Domingo, which Team 1 so kindly reserved for us (thank you!). We enjoyed an early dinnerlunchbreakfast (not entirely sure which meal that was but we were thankful for the delicious food). Our dinner conversation was about God using people, sometimes completely unannounced to them, to bring other people to Him. We pray that we can be vessels for God's service, though recognize we may never witness the tangible effects of God's work until we stand before our Creator.
With an early morning before us (4 am departure), the team went to bed before the sun was down. Though, to our credit, it does set a little later here.
Thank you for your prayers, they are evident. Please continue to keep us in prayer, specifically: bus travel to Haiti tomorrow, discernment regarding where we are supposed to serve and stay, and for the Lord to be glorified - in us, through us, and in spite of us. To Him be the glory.
UPDATE #3

Lt. to rt.: Carl Ens, Mike Eggleston, John White, Joe Lindaman, Jeff Muis, Shannon Bryant, Jon Zbinden, Scott Zbinden, Kathleen Lindaman, Ava Avedissian, Jack Henderson, and Karl Armbrust.
All the members of Firefighters For Christ second Emergency Relief Team met early this morning at Miami International Airport. They'll fly to Santo Domingo and from there leave early Thursday morning for Haiti. Please be praying that the Lord will guide them to exactly where He wants them to work. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
As Dan Rodriguez from Team One said, "Prayer is the fuel for our trip." Each of you play such a vital role as you intercede for the God's Kingdom work in Haiti.
UPDATE #2

Steffen and Tanja Schwarz, FFC members from Germany, are teaching their precious little Laura how to pray.
Jesus said, "This, is how you should pray:" 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:9-10
Jesus words: "I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!" Matthew 25:40
