- I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

UPDATE #18
From Light Ministries in Haiti:
Terry was able to join the medical team in Carrefour today and watch God at work! A woman came with a finger that needed to be amputated. The doctor (Doctor#1) was unable to do surgery. While they were seeing this patient, another American doctor (Doctor #2) showed up with a very sick baby who needed medication. When Doctor #1 explained that he didn’t have tools to do surgery, Doctor #2 stated that he was a surgeon. One of our firemen (Firefighters for Christ) had a Swiss knife. Doctor #2 scraped the flesh off, sawed the bone off and sewed it up! The baby received the proper medication and lived and the woman left with a perfectly amputated finger!
Many of the things that need medical attention now are the result of people trying to get back in their homes to save things. The buildings are not safe to enter. Concrete and glass are falling everywhere, injuring the people. A woman came in with a huge cut across her cheek and lip where a piece of glass had fallen and cut her. She received stitches and was on her way. Pray for the Haitians that they use wisdom. They are trying to save whatever they can, but nothing is really safe to re-enter.
The politicians did not come today. Perhaps because the word on the street is that Carrefour is not safe. There is no active police force, no military on duty. The people have taken it upon themselves to set up barriers in their own neighborhoods before dark to keep strangers out, their own vigilante system. They are on duty to protect the streets full of people sleeping. Even the other night, Terry took some of the team to sleep at Olrich’s house and was stopped. When they saw him, they removed the barriers (sometimes old car parts, rocks or whatever). If you are caught entering these neighborhoods, they will stone you! When he returned from the DR on Tuesday, it was nighttime when he arrived in Carrefour. Everything was barricaded. When the people realized it was Pastor Terry, the barriers were lifted. The Haitians are excited and tell everyone that Light Ministries is here to help!
When teams are out, they pray for those they see. Each day, 12-20 people are born again! They pray for every doctor and every patient. If they forget someone, they return to say ‘You forgot to pray for me!’ What a ministry is going on here, touching people’s lives for eternity! That is really why we are here!
The trucks are scheduled to ship from Miami on February 8, a little later than anticipated, but they will be welcomed when they arrive two days later in St. Marc, then driven to Carrefour. Begin now to pray that the contents in these trucks are not stolen (a common problem in shipping loaded vehicles). Station the angels around this shipment that nothing is touched! We need every item that is in those trucks. Good news today…I was praying that we could get a Bobcat shipped in the dump truck. We need one so badly. This morning, Joe Warner called and told me that the people in Pennsylvania are going to load a Bobcat inside the dump truck! That made my day! God hears and answers every specific prayer!!! Pray for a piece of land where we can park these vehicles. Our yard is more than full.
We are still looking for land for ‘Tent City’. A source for water treatment and distribution is in the works. More later. We need satellite! The internet and phones work only part time. When one works, the other doesn’t. With so many people working out of our office, we need communication! The satellite company is supposed to come, but never shows up. The system is simply overloaded with everyone trying to establish communication with families. If you can help, let us know. Don’t stop praying. He is at work, helping us restore our people to a new life.
Another day to see God’s hand at work… He is doing marvelous things!
THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS BE SHAKEN
AND THE HILLS BE REMOVED,
YET MY UNFAILING LOVE FOR YOU WILL NOT BE SHAKEN
NOR WILL MY COVENANT OF PEACE BE REMOVED,
SAYS THE LORD,
WHO HAS COMPASSION ON YOU.
Isaiah 54:10
UPDATE #17
The team has been starting the day with a time reading the Bible and encouraging each other before they start out to work in the clinic. This morning Vinny led their time together and he turned to an old favorite passage from Proverbs that has new meaning for them this week.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
They talked about how to take this complete dependence on God in every moment (which they TOTALLY need on a relief trip to a ravaged Haiti) back into their every day lives...not as easy when you are used to solving your own problems or being the ones that others call to help them! Pray that they things they are learning will forever change their dependence on the Lord.
They plan to see more (and more) patients today at the clinic in Terry Nelson's church. They have both a Plan A and a Plan B for travel out of Haiti on Saturday. They also have confirmed hotel rooms in Santo Domingo for Saturday and Sunday nights.
UPDATE #16
More wonderful news from our team in Haiti
Today they had a busy day at the clinic at Terry Nelson's church and saw many patients...they were able to pray with the patients as they worked on them. One man almost left and then he came back and said, "you didn't pray with me yet". Jon Brown found a tap tap (taxi) driver that was willing to be their "ambulance" and stay on standby for the day. They paid him $20 to be there all day and they needed him three times to transport people to the hospital. So, they have a rented "ambulance tap tap". The doctors they have been working with leave tomorrow morning and today new doctors arrived from Asia (China, India and Indonesia).
Pat Stilton, Jerry White, Danny (Rodriquez?) and Jim Haney went out to Leogana (at least I think that is where they were) and when they got there, people in the neighborhood thought they were building inspectors. The Haitian people have been told not to go back into their homes until they have been inspected by building inspectors. So, they asked our guys to inspect their homes to see if they are safe. They checked several homes in that area.
As they were headed back to the church/clinic, they took a different way home...a way they have NOT been traveling. WHY? Because as they passed by, they passed a man who was lying on the side of road, covered with dirt, he was injured and dirty and no one had stopped to help him (apparently for several days!). Our guys stopped and took him with them back to the clinic so he could be helped. (Anyone else thinking about the Good Samaritan?!?) He was injured too badly to be treated at the clinic, so they took him in their rented "tap tap ambulance" to the hospital...which was closed for the night...but they talked their way in so that he could be treated there.
Vinny said there are lots of infections, new injuries and old ones...today they treated a gash on a ladies' face with Super Glue. The Haitian nurses they are working with have started asking Vinny for advice on treating patients (!) He asked that we continue to pray for strength, good health and energy...they are TIRED but amazed at what God is doing!
